Sporting Facilities

To foster mental and physical wellness, MUBAS encourages both students and staff to actively participate in a range of extracurricular activities. By promoting these activities, the University aims to create a healthier and more balanced campus environment.

Sports and Competitions

MUBAS offers various sporting opportunities, coordinated by the Sports Administrative Office under the Directorate of Student Affairs. Annually, MUBAS hosts the Chancellor’s Trophy, an event that brings together students and staff from all schools on campus to compete in multiple sports disciplines such as football, netball, volleyball, hockey, basketball, athletics and pool .

MUBAS teams also represent the university in intercollegiate tournaments, including:

  • Tertiary Education Student Sports Association of Malawi (TESSAM)
  • MO626 College Basketball Championship

In addition, some teams participate in national leagues, including the South Region Football Association’s lower league, providing a platform for students to showcase their talents on a larger stage.

Facilities and Activities

Beyond traditional sports, MUBAS offers other wellness options:

  • Gymnasium: Facilities for bodybuilding, fitness training, and aerobics.
  • Board Games: Chess, draughts, scrabble, and bawo.
