Call for applications into Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes

The University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to enroll into Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Degree and Certificate programmes which will be offered by The Polytechnic and are scheduled to commence in October, 2019. The Degree programme takes a minimum of four years to complete while the certificate programme has a minimum duration of two year.

The University of Malawi believes in gender equality and female candidates are encouraged to apply.

These programmes will be delivered through Distance Learning Mode.

Tuition fees per academic year for a degree programme is MK400,000.00 and for University Certificate of Education is MK250,000.00 payable in two equal installments.

Limited scholarships are available to needy and vulnerable successful students on merit.

Applicants should pay a non-refundable application fee of MK11, 000.00 into the following bank account:

Applicants are asked to apply using application forms which can be downloaded from the following websites: www.unima.mw or www.poly.ac.mw. Copies of the application forms can also be collected in person from the University Office in Zomba through the admissions office or from the Polytechnic through the office of the Assistant Registrar (Academic) in ground Floor of Main Building or Head of Technical Education in the TED Building.

Application Package

A complete application package MUST include the following:

  1. A duly completed  application form  with an attached  recent passport size photo
  2. Copies of all relevant degrees/Diplomas/certificates/academic transcripts which have been indicated on the application form. These must be duly certified as true copies of the originals by a recognized Commissioner of Oaths
  3. Copy of a bank deposit slip showing the name of the applicant and the amount of application fee paid
