About Blantyre City
Located in the city of Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial capital. The University has five schools namely; The School of Business and Economic Sciences, The School of Built Environment, The School of Engineering, The School of Science and Technology and The School of Education, Communication and Media Studies with 17 departments which are offering over 100 programmes.
It currently has a student population of over seven thousand with more than 450 members of staff.
Depending on the programme, students can earn an undergraduate, graduate or professional qualification, being awarded a certificate, a diploma, a bachelor’s degree, a postgraduate diploma, a master’s degree, or even a doctorate degree.
The head office of the University is situated along Masauko Chipembere High way at Ginnery Corner, this is also the main campus of the University. Other campuses are at Chichiri next to Blantyre City Council Civic Offices, Nsalura in Salima, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
It is also near the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) and abuts the headquarters of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), which itself abuts the Southern Region headquarters of the Malawi Police Service (MPS). As such, all of these locations are within a kilometer of each other and the Main Campus. Opposite the Main Campus, also along the Highway, is the Annex Campus. The Chichiri Campus is also located along Kasungu Crescent, about 2 kilometres from the Main Campus, near the Museum of Malawi.
