Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of well-trained professionals in the supply chain. These remarks were made by Mirriam Nsomba, Board member for PPDA during a five-million-kwacha worth book donation to the School of Business and Economic Sciences at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).

Nsomba expressed hope that the books donated will promote excellence in procurement practices in Malawi and that the human capital produced will be of high calibre and integrity. She observed that the donation of books to MUBAS marks a pivotal moment in fostering excellence in procurement practices and nurturing the next generation of procurement specialists.

Speaking when receiving the book donation, Vice Chancellor for MUBAS, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, expressed her gratitude to the Board and Management of PPDA for the timely donation of the books on procurement. Chitera explained that the books will go a long way in assisting students and alleviating the challenges the university had been experiencing in an effort to offer quality education to the students. The donation will not only help the undergraduate student but also the postgraduate students.

During the function, PPDA Director General, Dr. Edington Chilapondwa, stressed that the best way of tackling issues of public misprocurement was to have well-trained procurement specialists. He prayed that procurement specialists should be at the helm of the procurement process by the very nature and uniqueness of the profession.

MUBAS is the pioneer university in offering degree programs in procurement. The university has plans to roll out certificate, diploma, masters and PhD programs in procurement and supply chain management.
