Marketing Students Society in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Marketing presented a public lecture that was presided over by Gordon Banda, Head of Malawi Courier Services at Malawi Post cooperation.

The lecture, that held in New TED Lecture Theatre, was organized to encourage the aspiring marketers to work hard in order to be better marketers as they get into the industry.

“The aim of the lecture was to share with the students what marketers are meeting in the industry, the challenges we meet and to aspire them on how to be better marketers.” Banda said.

In his own words he said a marketer is somebody who satisfies the needs and wants of a target market more efficiently and effectively than the competition profitably. He further added that marketers need to create a good image to customers not just force people to buy things but rather direct them on what is best and profitable for them through customer relationship.

Banda commended marketing students for the choice they made as they are going to be reliable people who can add more value to any company they are employed as marketing is a core department of any company in order for it to survive.

Speaking at the event, President of Marketing Students Society, Vincent Khoswe said it is very important for students to learn marketing from individuals who are already marketers in the industry rather than just learning and reading from books.

“This helps students to really know what happens on the ground and we have been motivated to become effective marketing personnel.” Said Khoswe.

The guest speaker donated K100 000 to the students’ society as a way of motivating and helping the society to achieve its goals.
